SPRINT NEXTEL WILL NO LONGER BE SUPPORTING OPEN ACCESS TO THEIR SNPP MESSAGING GATEWAY

On April 30, 2010 Sprint will no longer be supporting OPEN ACCESS to their CDMA (Sprint) SNPP, SMPP, and WCTP messaging gateways. OPEN ACCESS to SNPP for iDEN (Nextel) will be discontinued soon thereafter. Sprint will still be supporting these messaging protocols using their NEW Enterprise Messaging Gateway (EMG) which will require user authentication to send alerts / pages / messages. The EMG will support all the current features provided by the existing SNPP / SMPP / WCTP gateways, but most importantly, will now Require User Authentication to the EMG. Previously, an open access architecture allowed anyone to connect to their messaging platform and send unfiltered messages anonymously. By now requiring authentication, this will help Sprint prevent unwanted text messages (SPAM). This will also eliminate the need to white/black list accounts.

Emergin does not support SNPP Authentication. Find out how to overcome this limitation. <more>
